Meet Kathryn..
Mindful crafter, florist-in-training, dog mum, and someone who first picked up a needle just a few years ago. What began as a hobby soon grew into something much bigger – and today she’s even running her own Etsy shop! But before all that, Kathryn started out as a complete beginner, learning her very first stitches with me long before Bloom even existed.

Let’s dive deep into her incredible embroidery journey! 👇🏼
Kathryn’s Story
When Kathryn first picked up a needle, she only knew a handful of beginner stitches. She loved embroidery but didn’t yet feel confident – she often wondered if she was “doing it right” and wasn’t sure how to keep progressing, or what to stitch next.
In fact, Kathryn has been with me since the very start of my teaching journey. She was part of my Patreon community (way back in 2021!), and purchasing my PDF embroidery patterns long before Bloom Embroidery Academy even existed.
So when I created this embroidery membership, Bloom, she joined on day one – and she’s been with us ever since. More than two years later, she’s grown from a beginner into a confident embroiderer (and even a small business owner!) 🥳
She told me something that really sums up why Bloom exists:
“Bloom helps you to work through the different levels of stitches and has the journey all mapped out for you, so you don’t have to think about it – you can just enjoy the process instead, without the overwhelm.”
And her words still get me here!🥹. Because, I know how easy it is to feel stuck or unsure when you’re on your own.

From Overwhelmed to Confident Stitcher ✨
Kathryn’s biggest shift wasn’t just in her stitches – it was in her mindset.
Like many Bloom members, she jumped in with excitement (and maybe skipped ahead a little 🤭), but once she slowed down and followed the Bloom Roadmap, something clicked:
“I’m always referring back to Bloom’s stitch tutorials for inspiration and guidance on complex stitches. After jumping ahead initially, I’m now following the roadmaps to practice stitches in the patterns. Now, I can see real improvements in my technique, but the biggest difference is in my confidence.”
That’s the magic of the Bloom Roadmaps.
By guiding you step-by-step through stitches, techniques, and projects, it removes the uncertainty and frustration. The tutorials are always there when you need them, and the monthly patterns (and smaller practice patterns) give you a chance to practice everything in real, beautiful stitching!

The result? Kathryn didn’t just stitch better – she trusted herself more, and her confidence soared 💫.
How the Bloom Roadmaps Help You Learn Embroidery
What Kathryn said here? That’s exactly why I built the Bloom Roadmaps into the membership – to give you structure and direction, so you can focus on stitching (and actually enjoy it!) rather than worrying about what to do next. These Roadmaps are the core component of the membership, making learning embroidery as simple as it can be.

Finding Her Flow Through Embroidery Workshops
One of the resources in the membership that Kathryn has embraced most deeply are our embroidery workshops.

She told me how the embroidery workshops were a game-changer for her skills. In fact, let’s allow Kathryn to tell you herself! 👇🏼
“I LOVE the workshops! The satin stitch workshop was a real game changer – my satin stitch has massively improved, and now each time I use it, I think, ‘that looks awesome!’. Sophie’s tips give my stitching that ‘wow factor’, and I feel a real sense of achievement. The little tips and tricks really elevate your stitching.”
Hearing this fills me with so much joy, because this is something that I aim to teach to all of my members. More often than not, it’s those small, gentle adjustments to your stitching – a tweak of tension or consistency, or a tiny change in direction – that make stitches go from “just okay” to something you’re truly proud of.
The Embroidery Workshops inside Bloom

And this is exactly what our embroidery workshops are designed for. For taking a single stitch and slowing it wayyyy down, breaking it into bite-sized, stress-free steps. Whether it’s our embroidery workshops in satin stitch, French knots, leaves, lettering, threadpainting (or anything else!), they give you the confidence to tackle even the trickiest techniques with calm, clear guidance.
The best part? They don’t just teach in boring videos – you’ll actually feel your skills improving as you stitch along the beautifully designed pattern with us! They sit alongside the stitch library, monthly patterns, and Bloom Roadmaps, so you can dip in whenever you need to polish a technique or get a little extra guidance.
Ooh, there’s more! Because Bloom is shaped by its members, I often create workshops in direct response to what’s needed. When some of our members found fishbone stitch tricky, I built a whole Leaf Embroidery Workshop to help. Kathryn noticed and told me it made her feel really valued as a member. That’s exactly the heart of Bloom, friend. Meeting you where you are, and helping you thrive.
The Unexpected Gift: Community 🫶🏼
Beyond the stitchy wins, Kathryn found something even more powerful inside Bloom: a community of kind, creative women who get it.
“It’s lovely to be able to share my hobby with other like-minded women and to support and motivate each other. Bloom really is tailored to its members, which makes me feel really valued.”
And honestly? I couldn’t agree more! Watching members cheer each other on, celebrate wins, and share their stitching makes Bloom so special. It’s not just tutorials; it’s a group of warm, supportive women who get it, who get each other, and who are genuinely friends.
Whether you’re stuck on a stitch, beaming with pride over a finished project, or just need some encouragement; Bloom’s community is there with you. There’s no judgment and no pressure, just caring connection, and truly cheering each other on.
We believe embroidery is personal and communal. It means never stitching in isolation, and being surrounded by encouragement every step of the way 🌸.
Kathryn’s journey proves how transformative it is when you don’t have to go it alone.

Why Bloom is Her Go-To for Embroidery Resources
When I asked Kathryn what makes Bloom special, her answer really stuck with me (in the best way!):
“The Academy is my go-to for all things embroidery. It helps save you a lot of time and energy as everything is conveniently all in one place. My favourite thing is that you can progress through the different stitches with the tutorials and patterns and really feel like you are learning and honing your skills. I love all the bonus content too!”
Inside the Bloom Embroidery Academy, Kathryn found:
✅ The Bloom Roadmap for structure
✅ A stitch library for every technique
✅ Monthly embroidery workshops to level up her skills
✅ Patterns to practice what she’s learned
✅ Inspiring bonus content to keep things fresh
✅ And a one-of-a-kind community cheering her on every step of the way.
It’s the perfect blend of guidance, flexibility, and fun – and it’s helped Kathryn bloom (pun fully intended 🌸!)
From Stitcher to Etsy Shop Owner 🥳
Now for the best part of Kathryn’s story, because her growth didn’t stop with her stitches in Bloom!
She’s now the proud founder of Fleur & Cotton, her own embroidery business where she shares her stunning creations with the world. Watching her go from unsure to unstoppable has been one of the most rewarding parts of building Bloom.
